About Rick

Rick holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a Masters of Science in Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. At IIT he was a member of a multitude of clubs including Pi Kappa Phi, IIT Robotics Club, Student Government Finance Board all while working for the IIT Campus & Conference Centers and umpiring baseball.

Rick grew up in Norridge, IL where the multitude of planes from Chicago's O'Hare Airport would constantly buzz his childhood home. Before interviewing for jobs after college he had never traveled farther west than Minnesota! But now he had lived in Arizona for 7 years and even vacationed to the land of hobbits in New Zealand (so far west that it is east!). Over the past 13 years he has worked in the defense industry writing software and firmware and making circuit card modifications for a variety of automated test and measurement systems.

Sometimes weeks go by at work where all the work is mostly paper design and documentation and it drives Rick to tinker at home. Some of my more established Side Projects are shared here, while the rest still live in my head, on my desk, in my workshop, and wherever else the pieces lay. I've begun tinkering with Arduino but these projects end up as giant tangles of wires which do not photograph well. Eventually I will try to transition one of my creations onto its own CCA and that will be quite the project to share!
